Alright, I never rant, but I'm frustrated as hell right now. I'm literally within 5 minutes of firing up my car for the first time since the supercharger install, but noooooooooooooooo, the damn thermostat gasket has to piss coolant all over the place when I'm topping it off. Now I have to take my damn supercharger belt back off, take my accessory belt back off, take my alternator off, and replace the gasket, which I don't even have in my possession right now, so that means yet another trip to the auto parts store and at least another hour killed before I can give it another try. Why doesn't anything ever go right when working on cars? I was going to swear a whole bunch, but I'd have to give myself an infraction for it, and if I counted each word, I'd probably have to ban myself for a week.

SERENITY NOW!

That's why I'm indoors right now, and away from the car. I had too many tools at my disposal to start hitting things with, so I had to come relax. I'll worry about it tomorrow instead.

I swear, each car has its own personality. Sometimes it's very nice to you, other times it is going to try and piss all over you. We feel your pain.

I never take off the alternator to change the thermostat. But I admit it's a PITA to replace a thermostat that way. I do use water pump & thermostat housing RTV silicone along with a gasket - it helps glue the thermostat and gasket in place while I maneuver the thermostat housing in place.

Unfortunately, the alternator has to come off because I can't get to the hose clamp for the bypass hose otherwise. Vortech didn't make it easy on us...

It's not so bad that I have to take the thing off, it's just that it'll be the 4th time I've had to take all of that crap off, for miscellaneous reasons. Had I known it was going to leak, I would've fixed it while I had it off the last time. Maybe I'll just go put those 96-98 export tails on instead. Took 4 auto parts stores to find the right DupliColor for the NA paint code to paint the bezels. It seems no one stocks it anymore, since it's more than 10 years out of production.

I feel ya. It seems like when stuff goes smooth....it goes silky smooth. But when it wants to give you trouble....damn man it gives you TROUBLE! THe big mistakes dont make me that upset....its the small stuff that gets to me.

I also use the rtv/gasket setup and have never had any leaks.

Good luck!

So let me get this straight. The first thing you wanted to do was come post this on the forum?

The first thing I wanted to do was smash my car with my 1/2" drive socket wrench that was sitting there. The second thing was come inside and vent my frustration, so I didn't need to replace body panels and glass instead.

With that much practice, you ought to be able to get it right this time.:stirpot:

I know how you feel. Nothing ever goes right for me. It starts off with not being able to find the right tool. This happens every time I do something. Then, something might break, or its not doing what its supposed to.

I always give myself lots of time to do anything. If I guess its going to take an hour, I will say it takes 4. Always find something else to fix when I start doing something.

Sorry, but I couldn't resist...only because I can relate completely!

Now it's my turn to rant--the stupid volcano that's been erupting for a week has finally spewed ash in our direction. Our airport has been shut down more than it's been open in the last few days, and it's disrupting FedEx and UPS, so my gears I ordered for an install next weekend may not make it. Or my front tires.

Plus, I've got my garage crammed full of snowmachines that are half disassembled, that I was getting ready for summer storage, plus the truck, etc, trying to keep everything from getting covered in ash.

This is really nasty. My sniveling is about meaningless stuff, really, but it's really gonna screw things up around here. We're expecting another dump of ash in about 3 hours.

I hate volcanos!

Yikes, at least I don't have volcanoes to deal with! That ash has to make quite a mess, no?

Last time I did that, I ended up with my hand in a cast for 4 1/2 weeks. I'll stick to just walking away.
