gt-40 crate engine dyno wtf

my buddy has one of those in a car n he "is certain" that the 345 hp rating is garunteed at the rear wheels, hence why he said he would beat me lol I knew it wasn't n i told him, but he was like whatever i'll beat you lol I was like dude, they aren't gonna put anything but higher flywheel numbers in a CATALOG lol

Where were the peaks at? I agree the 30# inj are a tad big for that combo a 24# would have been a better choice but you could ge them to work.

I'm not a E-cam fan however....and this would not be the first FRP crate motor I have seen put out low numbers, and I've also seen what 2000xp mentioned as far as the valve train in those X heads.

I'm willing to bet with a set of 19's or even 24's with a matching maf you'll see far better A/f...and in that you should be putting down 260's or better. LT's will help out a bit as well on the top end...might get you another 5+ hp and some torque as well.

your are way rich for a (NA) set up. It may be cheaper to get smaller injectors, then sell the 30's to offset the cost. Even if you decide to keep the 30's and have a chip burned you will always be able to use that chip for continous upgrades. I agree that if you get you AFR to around 13:1 you will deffinatley pick up power. You didnt say where your timing was set but putting at 12-14deg initial will deffinately help power also. My tuner told me that every degree of timing is worth 4-8 hp. up to a degree or 2 before detination.

$60 for 19's, lol.

I got my 24's for a $100, that should tell you how high that price is.

The ammount of fuel they flow doesn't effect the price. His price is actually quite good. If they are all good and they work properly $60 bucks is a good deal to the guy that needs or want's them. Ford doesn't sell 19's for significantly less becasue they don't flow as much as 24's. In fact I'm sure if I looked them up, the price will be very close to, if not exactly, the same.

yeah i looked at the price when i posted $60. from ford the 19's are 219.99 and the 24's are 229.99. i thought 60 would be a pretty good deal. I got them off of a friend that switched the his engine to carb. and they have been sittin in the garage for about 2 months or so.

but ill take 40 to help pay off my damn ticket

Used prices have to do with demand, and there is no demand for 19 lb injectors, since stock ones rarely go bad. And there is an abundance of them.

New price has nothing to do with this.

Besides, 24's are aftermarket for the most part, and must of been purhchased new at some point.

Doesn't matter, 24's are right for him anyway.

Yes 24's are right for him. Yes demand for 19's is very low. I mearly mentioned new price to demonstrate that flow doesn't = value.

that's cool, i'm really not trying to give you a hard time, just if you are going to plug yourself for a sale in the middle of a post, at least make it a good deal.

Regardless, as rick said, the 30's he has can work, just is going to take a delicate hand on the AFPR, i've seen in done, it's just a bit more of a PITA.

TJM, i know flow doesn't equal value with 24's, 30's, 36's, but it does however with 19's because for most modders, they are useless.

didnt really take it that way. i really didnt know what to ask fro them.

The 30lbers are to big for that combo. I have 30lbers on a more aggressive setup and they are to big. Rich.

24's would be more ideal. Ford put them on their 93 Cobra and they put out very similar numbers to what that crate does to the wheels. They did it for a reason.

Now, no accessories and a carb are going to bump that horsepower number up quite a bit. Your not carb and you have accessories with to big of injectors (leaner will make more power).

Don't expect much more power. Injectors are the only "real" problem on that combo I think...

can you explain the way rich part im not really understanding where or at what point its too rich and the timing is at 14 deg ...

as far as the 19lb inj. i have them still and i was driving around with on it for awile and to be honest i think i feel more power with the 30lb inj and maf...also we had to turn the fuel pressure way up(as far as you should go) with the 19lb inj and stock fuel pump( it smelled like hte bumper boats at disney land at idle) and i would get a check engine light after driving for say 3mins. wit h a lean code...i drove around like that for a couple months waiting for my 30lb maf until one time after they worked my car the check engine light stopped coming on mysteriously...you think i might be dow n on power from my engine getting damaged during that period? What would be damaged and where should i look? Its a new engine only around 6000 miles on it ...

Matts89lx5.0 - Why are you switching to 30lber's? Just curious...

stang619 - That is very likey that you "felt" quicker with the 30's over the 19's in your case. You weren't getting enough fuel to the engine and an efficient combustion so you were losing power. But 24's would be more ideal probably for a better a/f ratio but the 30's atleast gave you enough fuel (for sure!) over the 19's. Possible size of maf can factor into power as well.
