gt 40 crate engine

I believe their crate motors come with hypereutectic pistons - so you need to be careful with your tune - they won't like detonation under boost. I don't think either of those cams are ideal for boost - I'd go with another aftermarket brand that is geared more for a supercharged application. Something with less overlap, and some exhaust bias since all the Ford heads are intake biased in terms of flow.

Given all that, might be best to find a crate manufacturer that will build you a short block with forged pistons; then you pick the heads/cam that you want.

I'm going to agree with Michael here. I put a GT40 crate engine in my car a few years back. Although it has been quite a reliable engine, it probably wouldn't be under a boosted application. I'd recommend it if you were looking for less than 300hp at the wheels, naturally aspirated.

I disagree with my highly esteemed colleagues. The E Cam works very well with nitrous and superchargers. Also, the Motorsport motors do just fine with moderate boost. A lot of guys on this forum use 100-150hp of nitrous with the hyper-junk pistons with good results. Just make sure that you have enough fuel and that you don't go overboard with timing. 7lbs from a Novi 1000 is pretty mild.
