allright my manifold just arrived, on the underside of the lower manifold on the side where the crankcase breathe filter/pcv is housed their is what looks to be a thin metal pan bolted on. The pan covers maybe 1/3 of the bottom of the lower manifold. What is this and do i need to keep it on ETC? Im swapping in this new manifold on saturday so i want to figure out what this is, thank you for the help.

What do you mean by ETC? Keep that splash shield on there, it's a good thing.

Yes, leave it on. It's not a bad idea to fab up one that covers the entire bottom on the intake to keep hot oil from splashing on the runners. The four rivet holes will hold the larger shiled in place but you should drill/tap the holes and use loctite to hold em in.

allright thanks. And once i get some new heads and cam i'll be sending it off too you to get ported tmoss

Edit: Tmoss i was looking @ your ported lower install, you mentioned only torquing upper to lower 12 lbs? i've heard from others that the upper/lower is more in the range of 20 lbs? Is this 12 lbs only for the ported vs, or for all? And how many lbs should the TB torqued to when attaching it to the upper manifold?

I never torque an upper-to-lower bolt more than 12-15lb-ft - NEVER. There is no need for it and it may prevent you from stripping out the bottom threads.

o allright, well i got the lower in, and the majority of the lines hooked up, im just having trouble with 1 thing that is connected by spring to the TB, i can't find where on my car (passenger side) it connects to the car, It has a bracket and it's 2 lines that come from the drivers side behind the manifold over to the passenger side, then have a spring that runs from them to the throttle body, im thinking TPS maybe? I need to know where on the car these connect!

you should have two bolts left over from when you took it off the stock upper. there are 2 holes to the right of the egr.

From your description I think you're talking about the throttle cable and cruise control cable. They both connect back onto the throttle body. It's difficult to describe how they hook up as I don't have access to my Chiltons and my car has a Fox setup now so I can't look at it. You wouldn't have access to a Chiltons or Haynes would you? Anyone have photos for him?

hrmm, it connects right up to the TB? but then the spring wouldn't be tense. I remember the spring being tense before i took it off

go look at your stock upper. find where there egr went on then look to the right and you will see 2 bolt holes. it would be right behind the throttle body. more towards the passanger side.
