I got a GT-40 upper and lower off of ebay, but now that I look closer at it I noticed that there is no EGR hole in the middle of the lower intake. Is this a 95 cobra lower, or what could it be?

The EGR gets hooked up from the Elbow of the upper intake to the passenger side header.

It's a deal killer - can't do it. You need one with the hole in the lower and upper.

IMO, not a good idea unless you have a way of turning it off in the comp.

are you going to a fox tb. if not you will need the elbow, which has a spot for the egr.

You have to have the right intake or you have to go the external EGR route like your SN arrangement.

Actually you can trick it. I made an EGR delete kit. Capped the header (5/8 flare nut at Lowes), capped the elbow (cut a peice of aluminum) and h-pipe. Hacked off the piping on the smog ports going into the back of the heads. Used JB weld to block the piping holes and bolted them back onto the heads. Lastly I removed the base of the EGR itself and plugged the hole on the shaft. Plugged the EGR back in the harness and tucked it away. It's been this way for 5 years and I've never had a "check engine" light or anything smog related ever.

The intake I have is an apparent Explorer lower, tubular GT-40 Upper and side items are a 65mm Fox TB, a set of fox LT headers, and a prochamber to go on it as well

when i did delete mine i secured the plunger in the egr and i did not have the check engine light, however, it pinged like crazy and i got crappy mpg. since i hooked it back up the car drive much better.

The lower intake I have was ported by Tmoss according to the guy I got it from. I just didn't pay attention to the egr hole not being there. Anyone need a basically new lower intake with a port job for a GT-40 lower with the EGR Passage? I will trade even. I hate to lose the port job. I was looking forward to trying it out.

Realy man just get the elbow, I realy dont think there will be that much diff. in the power....after reading up on it just get a bigger 94-95 t-body and an elbow and keep things simple.

From what I have seen most people go the fox route and either get other mods done at that time (like swapping and intake) or getting a bigger t-body so its fairly hard to know for sure how much your getting....

Now I do not doubt it fully either...it does make sense to me also.

It just comes down to the PITA factor and smog and other stuff. with a ported lower and a elbow along with a bigger t-body do you realy think there will be more power in a un-ported gt40 lower and a sim. size t-body (assum. the heads and cam can use the extra flow of the ported lower). Plus if you have smog thats another headache your done with.

I also ran my EGR plugged...had a bad ping but no CEL, if its not broke dont mess with it.

eew that sounds like a crappy situation with either get rid of the ported lower or try to run with no egr. Good luck with that.

I don't know what you can work out, but you'd be better off power wise to run the elbow and the ported lower than no elbow and a un-ported lower.

If the guy you got it from is the same guy I ported it for, you can give me his name, city and state and I can tell you if I did the intake or not.

Never ported an intake for a Keith Cobb in St Charles - see if he says he got it from me (which he did not) - or get the name of the guy I did it for...........
