I have an oppurtunity to buy a set of ported GT-40 P heads. the intakes have been taken out to fel-pro 1250 and the exhaust to fel-pro 1415, stock size ferrea valves, upgraded springs and milled down to 55 cc's for $475. i want to put these w/ an edelbrock performer intake and a nice cam either fcam/ecam/tfs stage one. First off what do you all think about these heads and secondly which cam would go with this combo nicely

btw i have all the bolton's, 4.10 gears and 3000 stall lock-up converter

they sound nice for the cam FTI.

I know the GT40X heads flow better, and I have seen them go for $700-800 on Ebay. I don't know if they will flow better than the P heads since they were ported. I would just save up some more and get some better heads. If you buy them, I will trade you for my stock heads, straight up lol.

i'm just a high schooler with a good summer job and my whole h/c/i needs to stay around 1200-1300. i've seen a guy with p heads, edelbrock rpm and f cam go 12.00. so they must be decent heads right?

Lot of ppl running pretty quick with gt40ps.... me not being one of them....

My best b4 h/c/i maf tb fuel pump injectors was 14.2@98

Best after was 14.2@100.87

I was hoping to pick up a LOT more than that.

The P's are good budget heads, but if it was me, I would save up a little more and get some Thumper heads. They are probably the best heads in the 'budget' category. You'll also need special P headers if you get those GT40s. But i say go for it. That's a good price for ported GT40p's.

what about compression, will it be too much for pump gas?

no 93 or 91 should be fine. cam really helps in compression. i know a guy running similar heads on his 347 and with a nice cam kinda like and f cam and he runs 89 just fine.
