GT/CS Fiberglass Install/Fitment Cost?

im wondering how much you think it would cost to get my fiberglass trunk, tail panel, quarter extensions installed and fitted? im 18 and dont have a ton of money at the moment since i just spent it all on the GT/CS parts for my 68 coupe....i think i have something like $1200 left over...do you think it could be done? no paint or anything, just put on the car so i can drive it and stuff...

If the end caps are bolt-on, and the trunk is one-piece, just slowly wiggle ant test-fit. The fiberglass will never fit as good as your original metal, so it will be a compromise. A good bodyperson can add or remove material with more skill to make it better looking.

Avoid bonding them on, as ultimately, they will crack & give.

I would say $1200 would cover it.

and....my end caps are molded on and have been for two years with no cracking whatsoever They are bolted in too.

yeah all the pieces are bolt on....its just like...the tail panel has the light buckets built in, and its hitting the original metal tail panel...the deck rides high on the driver side and dosent go over the lip of the tail light panel...i got the quarter extentions to match the contours of the quarter panel but they need some filler to be flush with the top quarter panel area where the trunk lid, quarter panel, and quarter panel extention meet.....

You have to cut holes in the original tail light panel for the new buckets to fit (unless they are the LED type).

thats what i originally thought but them was told these tail lights dont need that apparently....it certainly looks like they do though....

The 68 style panels can be gotten skinny, so the original panel is left alone. When I did mine with the 67 Cougar lights, It was chop city, as the Cougar Taillights are big & bulky. But, I liked the look better!

Check out my writeup on my cardomain site. The endcaps were a terrible fit and needed to be cut into three pieces to fit great. Once all the work was done, it was great. I got the vacuum formed trunklid from Branda ($$$) and it was a wonderful fit. A bit wavy, but all of it is that way. They require lots of blocking. Overall fit for my fiberglass pieces was good, but I paid for it. I also have the LED tail lights. I do think $1200 will take care of it, but thats alot of money to pay for only fitment and no paint.

i think my trunk lid is from Branda too...the place i bought it from's supplier stopped production for a while so they just went to other suppliers and bought from them to send to me...i remember the guy mentioning to me that branda and something else......

im thinking im gonna try to fix it myself....i took out the rear hood springs and that helped....the hardest part is gonna be the tail light panel...i dont even know where to begin with that....

I had to do some major trimming and make my mounting holes bigger for my end caps. It took us about 8 hours

I'll check over at my neighbour's when I get a chance. He just bought another CS a couple weeks ago.

I talked to him the other day and he said for the original, they cut two holes in the panel for the inner sockets to clear and sawed out one of the two bars in the old tail light positions for the outer socket to clear. Both his cars have the T-Bird lights. I don't know if your new one will require that, but it sounds likely.
