Hello im looking for some good headers to go with my Bassani X-pipe w/preformance cats, and slp loudmouth axleback. I was looking into the JBA long tube headers but wanted some of your guys opinions first.

just be ready cause it is loud as hell with that setup!

I just put that exact setup on this weekend and I was shocked at how loud and raspy sounding it was. I had the SLP on with the stock H-pipe and it souded awesome but when I added the bassani catted x-pipe it made it atleast twice as loud and changed the tone to a much higher tone that just the SLP alone.

I would definitely go with the JBA Longtube headers with your set up. Make sure you buy the ceramic coated ones though, itll be worth in the long haul. This set up will be incredibly loud, so just be ready to turn some heads when your driving......more than already at least!

Our shop car with no mufflers is surprisingly quite. It isnt something that I would drive all the time, but with an axle or cat back system would be perfect for my taste. But exhaust sound is a very personal opinion, what I think is great another thinks is complete crap.

My buddy with an 05 GT threw on a bassani X with magnaflow axleback and it sounds the exact way...we were amazed how damn raspy it is!!! I've heard alot of the same from different people...for some reason any Xpipe and axleback combo just doesn't sound good. I've actually got an 05 gt coming in 2 weeks, and I have no idea what to get exhaust wise...its killin me. Was thinking either magnapaks or SLP's, but I don't know which one has the lower, loud grumble. I'm looking for the loudest yet lowest toned exhaust with the best grumble, haven't found it yet :( My baby's comin in 2 weeks and i have no idea what pipes I'm gunna put on her!

Muscle Mustang just compared almost all the axle backs on the market. It told the decibel of the exhaust, cost, and rwhp gains. Whatever you put on match with either an off road H pipe or prochamber and it will be pretty loud and should have a good tone.

Joshman1204 do you got a sound clip of that setup, and as well as ceremic how worth it are they?

Results were stock stang no re-tune
The DBA meter was used to measure noise @ IDLE and at 2000 RPM IN 5TH GEAR (Cruising rpms).

Some comments were, JBA = lowest price tag, Bassani and Ford Racing = highest gain. Flowmaster = "tone most reminiscent of the classic 5.0 growl.

I personally like the look and sound of flowmasters. All black ecept for the tips.

Wouldn't there be a problem with length? I wouldn't expect all brands of LT headers to be the same length, so wouldnt there be a fitment issue between JBA longtubes and the Bassani X? I would think that each are made to fit their own brands (JBA LT's, JBA H-pipe, etc) Also JBA LT's are slip-fit where the Bassani is a bolt up.

Average figures are much more important for daily driving or even "spirited" street than peak figures are. If you look at the MM&FF article you'll see that the stock muffs had the highest average HP of the whole lot. But if you want to buy aftermarket sound fine.

mac has really steped up the quality with there 05 kit, nice welds, no spatter and header back is all stainless i didnt expect them to be this nice and the headers are even coated for less than $500
