I completed the GT foglight fix, from the Corral, and now my headlights are on all the time. Even when my keys are out of the ignition and the switch is turned off. Anyone have any suggestions. I posted a thread about this but only got two replies. I checked all of the wiring, made sure that I had all good connections. I can't figure it out. The only thing that I can think of is that the tap in connector is not cutting through the insulation on the wire and making a good connection, or that the relay is bad. I think that it was open when I bought it. Maybe some one brought a bad relay back to Radio Shack, and the put it back on the shelf?
Otherwise, the tech article on the Corral seems pretty straight forward. The hardest part was getting the dash apart!

i think i replied to your other thread. are you sure you have the correct type of relay. to save yourself some aggravation, go get another relay. you can use a Blazer brand relay from the parts store (only difference is that it does not have an 87 A terminal, but instead two 87 terminals). you should not be using 87A in this application. plug it in and see if it works.

also, make sure that you dont have the output (should be terminal 87) accidentally wired to 87A on the relay. 87 is the N.O. terminal (requires the relay to be energized), where as 87A is N.C., meaing that it would allow the lights to be on all the time.

good luck.

HISSIN50,

Thanks. I have to go to Radio Shack tomorrow, they weren't open today because it was Easter. I'm going to try another relay from them first, because I think the one I bought was used and returned. I will definately keep your recommendation in mind though. Thanks.

good luck with it. it should be something simple - there is not that much involved in the rewiring of that circuit. let us know how it goes.

It was the relay. I was able to get to Radio Shack today to get the new relay, plugged it right in and it worked perfectly just like it was supposed to.
I figured it had to be the relay, because I was sure that I wired it correctly. I used smaller tap in plug that I was sure would be able to break the insulation, so it could not have been anything else.
Thanks for the tip anyway,
