After almost 2 yrs and almost 13,000 miles, I'm soon to be able to once again put the 1999 GT back on pleasure duty. FINALLY got my little Ranger back on the road since the tranny blew. I mainly used the GT for commuting to work only. We use the wife's vehicle on weekends. The GT now has just over 65,000 miles. I know alot of you think I'm crazy for wanting to drive the truck over the GT, but I want this car to last me for some time, as it will be a while before I get another.
Just wanted to share the good news.

Glad to hear it man. I would love to have a pickup for a DD, I hate the wear and tear I put on my car by commuting. How many miles on the Ranger? 5-speed? I hear the manual trans in those trucks is pretty awful

Oh what the heck, drive it all the time! Nothing wrong with that! Here's how I look at it, and try to tell my wife the same thing, so tell me if my logic is flawed.....

Most likely you will get X many miles out of a vehicle, whether you drive it on weekends or every day. And also, you're more likely to get more miles out of a car that is driven pretty regularly rather than one that sits for weeks at a time. Plus you're more likely to have age-related problems with a car that has lower miles but is getting older in years. SO....if you're paying the price of the car, you're pretty much paying so much money per mile of enjoyment. Might as well get as much enjoyment out of it as possible if that's what you like. Not like its going to give you more miles....you're just spreading them out more.

Its an 89 Ranger 2.9 V6 auto. My FIL gave it to me about 3 years ago. Its got a bunch of miles on it, but still kicking. And I don't worry about it near as much, at least visually.

True, but I want to keep it without having it be another project and fixing things that are wearing out on it. I have one of those(see 66 Mustang in sig).
Last time I had it parked most of the time, I would drive it about once/twice a week. It was really nice to get in it and it was always clean. Right now it gets a bath about once a month.
