With the bolt ons i have now, does anybody know if my GT would beat am STI with exhaust, intake, and a fuel injection upgrade. So far that's all i know the guy has. he could have more than that but i've heard so many different things i don't really know.

If all he has is the intake, exhaust, and fuel injectiors, will my GT even come close. I don't have my gears in yet but will they help?

thanks for any input.

My buddy has a stock 03 STI. He ran low 14s the first time out on the track with it. I would say if you don't have a tune or gears you won't beat him.

No.. a STOCK 05sti runs anywhere from a 13.4-13.6.. Or so I have heard..

If you get some gears, yes it would help alot, but he is AWD and can lanch like a MoFo (if he is a good driver that is).. I would say he would beat you pretty bad.. IMO..

Got d@mn all day I've been seeing threads about "can my GT beat......." and almost all of them the answer has been "no", so what the hell can we beat????? Are we restricted to picking on Hyundai's, Civics, and V6 Camaros until we get a blower and some respectability?

My buddy has an 03 which is slower than an 05 and with intake and a few more psi via boost controler he ran 13.0s with a 1.7 60' on bald stock tires.

I wouldn't even try from a dig, a 40 mph roll or higher you MIGHT hang with him because STIs suck from a roll. There killer 60' times are what make them fast. I would get those 3.73s before you race, you really dont have any power mods.

Pretty much... Well I had the slowest production GT ever made.. In 96 they had the best gas milage with 2.73's for gears, with 215hp at the crank!! It was a joke when i got it. I thought my moms CRV was faster.. (ok not really)

But also Brand new mustang are kinda cheap.. with tiny little V-8s with not much power (us 2v guys anyways)

Look at an STI, its meant for the track, with alot of power- AWD- Turbo-ed...
Camaro- Big A** V8, 5.7l with tons of power but alot of weight...
Civic- Ok it has to be fully build, with a turbo to be even close to any of us...

Now iam not standing up for them or anything cuz i love my stang, but i also love it even more by working on it myself, and You cant beat the sound, or the looks.. so IMO thats why I bought one... No one said they had to be the fastest on the streets.. thats why ford made Cobras and GT500's....

Sad to say pretty much, all the new cars out today are making just as much power or more with little 4bangers and V6s and the V8s, the few that there are, will demolish us, or I should say you. LOL

All you need is a blower and a built motor and most cars wont mess with you and if they do they wont beat you. I've taken out modded Vettes, Vipers, Cobras, really any of the big hitters better have some **** done to hang, especialy from a roll now that I have my 3.73s my car is actually faster than it was with the 4.10s.

I raced a guy I know who has a ported and pullied 04 Cobra with full exhaust and JLT intake, and I pulled 3-4 cars on him from a 50-120 roll.

I hear ya man.

I was hoping to con this guy into a 40mph roll cause him and his friends are constantly buggin me to race. I have an xcal 2 on the way and i can put thhe gears in at any point in time but what will it take for me to beat this guy? I don't reeally have the money for a supercharger but i can probably get heads and cams within the next month or so. Is that what it's gonna take?

I'm definatly putting this car on a freakin diet...

I don't no, I haven't lost to any car that has tried me in the past 2 years of haveing mine. The ones that probably could beat me don't try seeing as they probably think I have more power then I do. I guess I just get lucky with slower cars picking on me.

I'll race ya man

hey do you put your car up for the winter time in CT? Cause if so, how do you keep your tires from flatspotting? I had khumo ecstas before last winter(they sucked anyway) but after 3 months of sitting they flatspotted bad. I don't want that to happen to my nittos..

most people cat drive their STI's for ****. If you can drive you car, you will have no issues. My buddy had one for a year and could never launch it correctly. He would always bog on the launch and the lag of that turbo would kill him.

Of course, he never had a chance against my car anyways

Get 4.10s, and bump your fuel and timing with the Xcal and be done with it.

haha no, and if u do get more upgrades, i think the next upgrade he would get is a boost controller, not unless he has one but has not told you, in that case, yeah, u can try and race him.....but thats about it.

I saw a 04 gt on the street race an sti and absolutley spanked it off the line. The gt had dr's and was launching a 4k, i'll give it to the guy he could drive, and the sti couldn't but the sti got beat by 3-4cars it was sad but kinda funny watchin the guy in the sti try to drive his brand new 35k car and got beat by a 15k car. Also ran into a wrx myself or may have been sti didn't get enough time to see the badging but it did have a larger wing in the back, don't know the mods but it def had exhaust cause his can was the size of a watermelon, not exaggerating on that either. Turbo was extremely loud so i don't know if he upped the boost or not but he pulled about a car on me from 40-90 so not all that bad imo

Hey Night Shifter well, alot of people talk some serious **** about the Typhoon manifold but I have liked it, but I would go with something else. I would like to get the P51, or Trickflow... it was cheap for me, and did get me some more power but it was kind of a PITA.

I would say if you can drive good, in a street race you could definitely win. I would definitely get your gears and practice your launches.

In a street race its all about the reaction time. Who gives a **** if he is AWD, if you take off the line first, I say you could keep him put away.
