I hate foreign cars, I get sick of the "how great my import is" routine. My F-150 has 200 K on it, and most of that was towing a race car. My 99 Gt with the KB and other mods hauls butt for the 11 geezers I have in it. I'm saying you can't beat an american car for the same price, this is why vettes sell like hot cakes, they have the biggest bang for the buck and their little turdhopper 4 banger isn't worn out in 70 thousand miles. BTW, the WRX STI is classed in NASA one class higher than a stock GT because of the AWdrive and independant suspension. It's like comparing apples to rice, or something like that.

well, if you haven't taken your car to a drag trip to see what you can do, I'm not sure there's any definitive answer.

Sticky tires will obviously help your launch, and that helps all the way down the 1/4 mile. Shifting fast enough that you don't have to lift much at all off the gas will certainly help as well. Knowing how to watch your tach so you shift just before fuel cut-off will help your 1/4 mile as well.

You should already have a clutch that won't slip, a flywheel that let's your engine spin up faster, and eliminated most of the choke points in your intake and exhaust. I'd race him now and then again once you put the gears and driveshaft on. Use him as a milepost - you'll be happier if you see an improvement, even if you lose.

I don't know wht upgraded fuel injectors are going to do pwoer-wise if the only other mods are an intake pipe and an exhaust. Especially if his "exhaust" is just a catback.

His breathing mods will net him more power than it would on an NA engine, so I'd say you are fighting an uphill battle, but what's the point in making your faster if you don't take on challenges once in a while? You can't say you are trying if you only race when you know you will win.
