Hi folks, new to the forum. I have spent years on dirt bike forums and recently made the decision to hang up my helmet due to some injuries that make it so I don't want to ride anymore.

But my family has been into Mustangs for many years, I had, yes, a 1983 GT T-Top, 89 LX 5.0, and dad had his 88 Saleen, my brother has had many over the last 20 years and just ordered his GT Soft Top in Green.

So now I start researching, I am going to buy a GT, but don't know if I want to do a Premimum or not. I like having Nav, a great stereo and interested in the Sync (this is a must have). This will be a second car for me, I don't mind eventually putting my own Nav in or a better stereo but want to still use sync, I hear Kenwood has something to work with it.

So I would like to hear from you on what you choose, maybe why etc.

I will build this to be a 500+ horsepower car but don't want to build out the engine, bolt on works for me.

Sorry for the long first post and hope you can give me some good intel.

I suggest going to your local dealership and see the differences between the base and premium, I think it will be a very easy decision once you see both in person.
I myself LOVE the leather interior, the upgraded trim, sycn, upgraded stereo, heated seats, ect....

I agree but two things, first off 99% of the people in the dealer can't tell me what I want to know, frigin idiots. Second I really prefer the perspective of the folks who actually own them. No offence I just have no faith in people that work in those places, Lexus, infinity, Porsche etc. they know what they are doing, the folks at the ford dealers here are not the brightest.

I have never owned a Ford NAV system, but from what I have seen on three different cars that came with NAV built in, I can say that they aren't nearly as good as a $300 Garmin. None of them are as user friendly and they just aren't worth the factory prices.

My youngest son does have the SYNC system in his Focus and it's an outstanding system.

Myself I prefer the leather, so I would lean towards the premium. I never used the sync so can't comment there. One of the things I didn't think I would care for, but actually enjoy playing with is being able to change the colors of all the lights in the car e.g. door seals, halo around speedometer, the lights around the car ext....it's just little accesories that each person will either like or dislike. but if you're happy with cloth it doesn't matter

To get what you are wanting, you need the premium. Look at Ford's website and study all of the info there about the Mustang models and you will know more than your salesperson. That's a simple fact.

The Premium package is so much nicer then the standard. I'd have a BOSS if it came with the premium package.

I'm pretty happy with my base 12'. I don't like leather or power seats. I do wish mine had the mycolor system though.

(i just stated this in another thread)

I just bought my '12 5.0 with manual, BASE, for 24k.
That's a selling point to me.

I'm about to graduate college this year and in a couple years, I'll pick up a Raptor or King Ranch 4x4 (used of course) and that'll be my leather optioned, bells and whistles DD. For now, I wanted something fun, inexpensive, and noticeably nice!
