100 bux for a GT40 is a pretty good price. Even if it is one off an explorer its a pretty good deal. If its a tubular upper jump on it cause its a great deal.

If it's a tubular piece, they usually trade for about $400+/- on eBay.

Isn't the tubular intake around $500 new from Ford? It's old school and way overpriced but it's better than a Cobra intake.

They've been discontinuted through FRPP for several years.

I was on the hunt for an Explorer or Cobra GT-40 intake until I started seeing Edelbrock Performers come and go on eBay for less than what the GT-40s were selling for. If you assume the GT-40 (non-Cobra) still needs the IAT sensor and plumbing bosses drilled and tapped where the Edelbrock has that done already PLUS better flow out of the box, the Edelbrock stuff is a no brainer.

they're not better than cobras. they flow the exact same. if you're planning on doing any port work they're actually not as good as a cobra because you can't port them as much.

I thought the Cobra was sort of a cast version...so that makes sense. Although i bet the GT40 runs a lot cooler.

IIRC, GT40 and Cobra have the same lower which is where your restriction is anyway...Awesome price. Lemme know if you don't buy it and they want to ship it
