I'm still compliling a parts list for the swap, and haven't seen it mentioned anywhere which head gaskets I need.
SO far, I have Felpron 1250 for the intake, and felpro 1415 for the exhaust, but what about the Head gaskets?
Do I have to order them for the 96 explorer or can I order 87-93 Mustang head gaskets?
Also, how about TB gaskets? If I'll be using the Exp. 65mm w/ a ported stock EGR spacer, which gaskets do I order? I f I order Exp. gaskets, it won't include one that fits the EGR spacer (I don't think?
Anybody know?
Thanks,
Jeremy

Also, regarding head bolts, someone said they got their ARP head bolts for $38. In Summit, the ARP head bolts for the 302 standardw/ Edelbrock heads are $38.
The 302 w/ Windsor heads are $100.
Which ones do I need?

Well, I used the straight autoparts store mustang headgaskets (yeah yeah, I know...I know..) but they fit perfect and the coolant seems to flow and no blowouts or anything so the mustang headgaskets will do you just fine.

header gaskets are the same too.

The only thing I have found to be different are the plug thread size. You need to ask for explorer plugs. Mustang plugs are too thick. They will try to give you platiunum, ask them for the cheapest....that should end up being a good copper plug. Plats will foul too fast.

good luck, fellow 40-p'er

no **** eh? I am assembling my engine, and they wanted to sell my double platinum tipped bull**** plugs for nearly $5 a piece for that explorer engine. I damned near told them to **** themselves and walked out of the store pissed, later returning and bought stock mustang plugs. Won't fit eh? the cheapest explorer plugs will work fine?

Autozone sells Autolites for $1 a piece. Tell them you want Autolites for a 96 explorer 302 and you'll get the plugs you need. You could also buy motorcraft at wal-mart for around the same price. Autolite and motorcraft are the same thing.

I am running autolite 104s in my p headed combo. At some time I had a website that listed all of the ford heads and the plugs that would fit them. I believe that the 104s are the stock heat range and then the 103s are a step colder.

Don't buy those platinum plugs just a waste of time for a performace application. just get a nice set of copper autolites. And the stock plugs won't fit cause they don't have the long reach threads that are needed for the relocated spark plug on the p heads.
