Hey guys. Im looking at doing the Explorer head n maybe intake swap. I'm looking at a Ford E-cam (220/220 @.050 .498/.498 lift), a Trick Flow "stage 1" (221/225 @ .050 .499/.510 lift), and a Crane 444221 (216/220 @ .050 .533/.544). I am looking for some replacement springs for the heads. Whats a good inexpensive spring that can handle this type of cam, and where did you get 'em? Also I might be wanting some stock type roller rockers. I'm not sure but the TFS cam may be a little big, and the Cran Cam has alot of lift. What do you think on a stock 5.0 bottom end with the P heads and Explorer/Cobra intake?

I have some P heads and a TFS stage 1 cam in my 93. I replaced the stock springs with a kit from Trick Flow. It is the kit for Ford iron heads. I can't remember the part # but it is on their website. I also run a set of Scorpion 1.6 pedestal mount RRs.

That spring kit will work for E7s, GT40s and GT40Ps.

One thing the make sure you do if you get that kit is to not get the retainers for the intake and exhaust valves mixed up. They ARE different since th stock heads have rotators on the exhaust valves. Due to the rotators the slot for the locks is in a different spot on the valve stem. The trickflow kit uses different retainers for the intake and exhaust valves to compensate for the difference in height of the locks on the valves so that the springs end up at the correct installed height of 1.8"

The kit comes with locks, retainers, springs, shims, valve seals and an installed height checking tool. I swapped the springs out in my buddies garage one evening. Pretty easy to do.

zackly,... all the sbf heads will use the same installed height 1.800 !! ( ok the earlu heads are a 1.67 installed...) also on the retainers and keepers... dont forget most/ some spring kits need to have the valve guide boss machined to clear the vale seal... soooo... be careful!!

OH.. I do have a dual spring kit.. drop in.. moly retainers and keepers.. email me if your interested... cool??

Just me.........................................
