Not my car, but my brother hurt his motor last race. So he sent out a left over block to be cleaned and checked. It came back clean, so in went the bottom end, a custom cam and had his unported GT40Ps freshened up. They swapped on some 24 lb injectors from the stock 19s, got it running Friday night and trailered it to NH. In the heat with the track running slower than usual he mustered a 12.02 @ 112.6. He mentioned he was shifting it slow getting used to it. Car should go into the 11s very soon. Probably had a 12.0 with the stock cam, but I think the custom grind worked. In similar conditions last season the car was going 12.4 @ 109-110.

What other mods? Because 24s and gt40ps plus a cam aren't getting you 12 flat

Here is the exact motor set up.

Stock block, stock crank, stock rods, stock hyper pistons, GT40Ps with a good valve job, 1.84/1.54 valves, springs matched to the cam, 1.7 rockers, custom grind cam, untouched 93 Cobra intake (off a 93 cobra actually), 70mm TB, 75mm MAF, K&N, pulleys, long tubes, X-pipe, dumped Hooker mufflers. Stock T5 with a clutch, shifter and AL DS. 8.8 with 31 spline diff and axles. UCAs, LCAs, no sway bar.

The same motor with a stock cam, diff valve springs and in my dads now 9 second chassis, has been as quick as 7.48 in the 1/8th (probably an 11.7-11.8 pass had they allowed full 1/4 mile runs). With the old stock cam on a much cooler day it has been 12.teens @ 111.

My brother is still getting used to the car. The 12.02 was a good pass, but no powershifting. He told me it could have been an 11.8-11.9 had he driven it harder.

We will see what it ends up running come cool air, and some abuse!

nice nice. How was it up there? I know its not dubbed " fun ford weekend" anymore so I was a bit skeptical about going up there. I had some stuff come up so I couldnt have made it anyway.

Not sure, I wasn't able to go. My father and brother said it was hot and humid out. The track wasn't hooking great, like it usally does. I guess it was a slow weekend for everyone. My father just last week or so was going 9.9x at a worse track that had recently been flooded. This past weekend he only mustered some low 10.0s at what is usually a faster track.

He has been on and off powershifting it. Sometimes he does, sometimes not. In similar conditions with him driving (not powershifting) and then me driving (powershifting) it's a couple tenths quicker (12.4-12.5 for him, 12.2-12.3 for me).

The car has 4.10s in it, but not sure exactly what RPM to shift it at with the new cam. Should be hitting the dyno soon to get an idea where to shift.

Thanks

I also just realized, with the stock cam he was shifting the car at 6000 or so. With the new cam I'm sure it wants more RPM, but he doesn't have an extender on it. Might pick up more with one. I hear claims of 11.50s for the car, but that might be a stretch!
