lol, i got my ass handed to me one night at the track by a bonneville ssei (same motor as the gtp). My mustang isn't fast by any means (13.5) but that bonneville ripped off a 12.8. pretty friekin fast considering that my dad's ssei is all stock and runs 15.5. those cars are very responsive to mods. there are several kids running around orlando and the ucf area with some fast gtp's, ssei's and regal gs's. i usually treat those cars as i would any other decent car at the track.

My brother used to have a 2 door GTP and they are certainly quick cars.

yeah, the tranny is the weak link in there. with the right work done to the tranny i have seen some of these kids around here drop as much as .75 just from the tranny work.

Don't feel bad, a Grand Prix GTP from 98-03 has 240HP and 280Ft.Lbs stock (My now gone 2 door 2000 GTP dynoed 212HP and 256ft.lbs to the wheels 3 pulls documented "factory freak") , and if he knows a few tricks to do while racing it, even stock you are done, he will stop a few miles ahead, wait for you to catch up and then hand you your ass as you slow down to see what just the hell happened. A 99+ 5-speed GT stock would have a VERY hard time with a modded 98-03 GPGTP.

Why is it EVERYTIME I contemplate the purchase of a Mustang, do resarch again, Grand Prix GTP's keep popping up? I just started to read and post here again cause I was thinking about a Mustang GT again, and someone has to post this. Sheesh.

My friend has a modded GTP (3.2 pulley, exhaust, intake) and he ran a 13.8. being your stock mustang is a 98 and will more than likely run well over 14s, you will loose. Get some nitrous and then you'll take him
