Are there any road or 1/4 mile tests between the lighter GTS vs a heavier Fully Loaded GT? Im just curious since the GTS was like a "lx" and the fox lx was faster than the GT...wondering if this was true for teh GTS as well?

I own a GTS and the only option mine has is the aode...Now I know this car isnt quick but Ive beat a lot of high 14 second cars with my pretty much stock gts(only mod is magnflows)...I always see peoples times with GTs with boltons still running high 14's

All other things being equal, any car that is lighter than another will be faster. So yes, a GTS is faster than a GT.

It isn't much of a factor at all...

Some people aren't any good at shifting or knowing where to shift a car. So you end up beating cars that 'should' be faster than you...

ya... even if your car is light I don't think it's doing high 14's stock with an AODE...

I think it would be very possible for someone who had never driven a 94-95
Stang to drive two of them equipped the same yet one tipping the scales
at 100 to 200 lbs difference and not being able to tell the difference when
driving around on the street.

1/4 mile is one thing
and
street is another

Depends on the GTS.

They came stripped, but you could option it out with all the same stuff as a normal GT

So the weight difference isn't much. Two things i beleive not available on the GTS if you get EVERY option are fogs and spoiler..and that's not much weight savings

i dont think a spoiler fog lights power windows and abs are going to net you much faster lol...it is possible you might have a 100 pounds there so you should be a tenth of a second faster...if your street driving all this stuff goes out the window pretty much ..if your racing a 5 speed it will be tough..are you racing at the track or on the roads?

A stock AODE GT hits the 1/4 mile in ~16.0 (mine was 16.03) so at best, a bone stock AODE GTS might do ~15.8. The only way you could beat a high 14-sec manual GT is if the other driver gets the launch wrong, doesn't shift at the right time, or shifts too slowly.

... my bone stock 94 AODE stang went a 15.4 1/4 mile with 178,000 miles on it oem wires, cap and rotor....it did have a shift kit thats all at the time so i cant believe that a shift kit gets you almost a second if it does i will make that my first mod on all my vehicles haha

16 second no way..I think It should run mid 15's at worst. If its a 16 second to car thats makes it slower than my civic Ive owned in the past..lol

Driver's race. It might be around a couple hundred pound difference between a stripped down GTS and a GT. Figure every 100lbs is .1 in the 1/4 mile.

A shift kit will gain you about 2/10 so that would put you at 15.6 bone stock. How much gas did you have in the tank? Did you remove any weight? My run was with a near full tank and no weight removed, so it was as heavy as it could get. Having a slow-shifting tranny that slips a bit doesn't help, so I've got a Transgo shift kit waiting to go in together with a tranny rebuild kit and an aluminium driveshaft.
What was your trap speed? Mine was 89.4, and I've read that most stock AODE GT's are trapping about 88-89.
If you think 16.0 is slow, I've heard of some stock AODE GT verts running 16.2-16.5.

yeah a vert has more weight then a coupe so it could get near a 16... my car was not reduced in weight any it had a 1/2 tank ....with me in the car it was like 3700 pounds or 3800 lol i believe dont quote me on that maybe it was 3600 not quite sure ...i was running through the trap anywhere from a 91.5 to a 91.8 so i think you got some issues needing addressing....i also had a bad o2 sensor and since fixing it i have picked up another 2 tenths lolso i have the car motor only bone stock running 15.008 with the gear and nitrous it now runs a 13.65 at 100.89

Yeah, the slow-shifting tranny is a problem but that's being fixed. My Stang's in the tranny shop having a performance rebuild and I'll be having an external tranny cooler, Transgo shift kit, and aluminium driveshaft installed at the same time.
I'll post new 1/4 mile numbers as soon as it's all done so I'll have a before-and-after comparison.
