my mechanic says that i can get something called resolin or reslin, i don't even know how to say it or spell it, but its supposed to loosen up those gummed up piston rings which my mechanic said can happen if you don't change the oil for a really long time. (i bought the car used a long time ago) so i was wondering where to get this stuff? if you've heard of it before? does it work? have you used it? what is the correct name/spelling? THANKS GUYS!

Hey Custom 89,

I think your Mechanic is probably referring to Rislone. You should be able to get it at Pep boys or any autostore. (maybe even Walmart)

Unfortunately I've never used it before so I don't know how well it works.

I've used it before works pretty well. But I found a new little buddy called Sea Foam, stuff works really well. I live in Arizona and have only found it at Carquest parts stores.

I've used this stuff called Auto-Rx and it's worked great. I cut open my oil filter right before I used the stuff and it looked all black and stuff. After the auto-Rx treatment I found a ton of sludge and crap in the filter which meant it did it's job. I also notice a slight increase in throttle response that I didn't before.

Check out the site, I think it's www.Auto-Rx.com

To clear things up, I opened up the filter after the Auto-rx treatment and a ton of crap/sludge was found that I didn't find when I opened up the old filter. hopethat makes sense.

i think Napa might also sell Seafoam.

AutoRx is good stuff - people use it before switching oils or having UOA's done.

good luck.
