Guys help me out here

Alright, does anybody have any ideas on what would make my car a little faster. I have had comments that my car would benefit from a less restrictive intake. Like a larger throttle body, densecharger, mass air meter etc. Does anybody have any suggestions. I would like to get all of that above but I don't want to start running lean, because I also want to add a cam. Do you think I could get a 76 or 80 mm mass air and calibrate it for 19lbs, and get a cam and be cool. Maybe even some gears, but I am not doing good with gas mileage

You don't need go any bigger than a 75mm MAF neccesarily...but the 80mm wouldn't be bad at all...it will only breath is much as the intake can...which you have upgraded both...I have a FTI cam, better flowing heads, and use a 75mm MAF...seems to be good :nice:

The TB, MAF and all aren't going to throw you over the "leanness mark" but I would really look into getting 24lb injectors with your MAF if you add that cam...

Since you have 327's (good gear in my opinion) stepping up to 373's would be nice...it might take off another tenth or two...

Get a 65mm throttle body if your going to get one...and port your intake to match...but I think the street heat intake won't need that...

Your gas mileage shouldn't be to bad...your tune is probably off (bad sensors, plugs, etc...

when I put the intake on I changed the plugs, cap, rotor, O2 sensors, and pcv. My a/f is in the "stoich" area... does it still mean that maybe I need a tune? I get about 14-16 mpg in town, I use 5th gear alot to keep the rpms down to save a little but... I don't know, it just seems like I am always filling up

unless you are using a wideband, i would not read too much into what the gauge is telling you.
also, lugging around town in 5th might not be helping you too much - you have to crack the throttle open more than if you were closer to the powerband (within reason).

yeah your guage says stoich and it is but it's not wideband. For the money your going to have wrapped up into a tb/mass meter and so on you can give it a 125 shot and never be happier. I'm not saying by any means that a pro m meter is a bad call at hell it's an excellent choice. If you dont have gears that should be #1. Just my opinion.

Well if you look in his sig. he has 327's :) Not a bad daily driver gear...gives up a bit of performance but I loved them in my 2000 Gt (stock gear)...

The 125 shot will require other additions that he will need to change since he drives this car "daily"...bigger fuel pump, and other fuel management upgrades, whether he is going to go with a dry or wet shot, bigger injectors, etc...plus the added danger of it all to his internals...

Just get a 75mm (what I have) or 80mm MAF with a 65mm or 70mm TB...it is really all up to you...not much of a difference between either...almost more of a personal prefrence...

I have Two 5.0's ones a Cobra (stock) and ones an Mustang. Both are 1995,s and have a 5.0's. My friend rode in my new Cobra the other day and told me it was much slower than my Mustang. So, here is what I did to make my Mustang faster.

65mm frpp Throttlebody
C&L mass air meter with 19# tube
Mac equal length headers
Mac Pro chamber H pipe
Flow master 2 chamber catback system
Underdrive pullies
3.73 gears
Stock heads
stock intake
Cold air pipe

Runs faster than my Cobra. It didnt take much more than a few bolt ons and I had some good speed. I would take it to the track but some bia took it out on Oct 8th. It is in the body shop getting a Cervinis hood and some new lenses along with the new cobra stlye bumper. I had the holes on the fender welded to go emblem less. I should get it this week. mmmmmmm Can't wait!!!!!!!!

I would think that it would be a good race (assuming their all in good tune) between your Cobra and other Sn95...

The Cobra has gt40 heads, 1.7 RR's, and a cobra intake with a bigger MAF than stock...as the major differences...but the gears probably fooled your friend (that more power is there - going thru the gears quicker) or put it above the Cobra in itself...

yeah the speeding ticket was when i had my 88gt and I had 373s.... It was 6:00am and I was driving down a deserted road and I didn't think I was going that fast but I guess I was... and he got me.. But I hardly speed at all now other than a few side by side races.. the rest is at the track. Thanks for the advice, it is really helpful, I didn't know about the a/f gauge and the wideband stuff. Thanks for your help!!

Your heads are a limiting factor. If you are determined to keep them AND if the heads did not come originally on a Cobra, have them milled to cut the combustion chambers down to 60 cc. With 64cc chambers you're running about 8.8:1 compression. With 60cc about 9:1.
With a decent port job and milling, you'll gain quite a bit of power.
