As the title states, what alt. are you guys running with eletric fans? Stock alt? Aftermarket? How many amps? Thanks

I have a dual 11" spal and Im running underdrive pullies also. Im using a Powermaster 140 amp. I also have PIAA driving lights, MSD box, nitrous system hooked up also, no problems with power.

I have a 95 fan 220 amp alternator, but i have 3 subs, dvd, tv, and a rear mounted battery. You should be ok with as stock alternator, if your not drawing too much current with an aftermarket radio.

I am using the stock one, but I would not recommend it. At night with my lights on and fan on my gauge at idle is very low. I am planning on switching to an MSD unit soon.

I upgraded to 120 amp alt.My problem(s)were with fan-controller conflicts.I got a 30/40 anp relay cause I couldnt get a 75amp relay anywhere arround here.So I Couldnt run HIGH speed 3.8l taurus fan with out burning up wire\fan controller.Its cooling fairly well with low speed.for now.MAN that HIGH speed wire on 3.8l has GIANT startup spike(pop,pop,sizzle,crack,smoke) DCC anyone????

by the way I get 14.5 at battery(idle) with EVERYTHING on!!!!!!

I had charging problems before the elec fan with my my stock alt, the fan just killed it, i just got a replacement 130amp from Autozone with lifetime warranty!!!!

Im using a Powermaster 140 amp. Its single wire so you have to kick the revs up to get it to turn on when you first start the car.

Did that alt. bolt right into place of the stocker and use the stock connections and all? If you dont mind me asking, whatd it cost?

I did basically the same. Alt bolts right in but you have to grind the stock bracket a little for clearance. It's aluminum so a dremel would work. I used a 4'' grinder and it took like 30 seconds. I got mine at Advance and it was $150 and I gave them back my old '89 alt in exchange and they credited me $50 so about $100 total for alt. Then the wiring and fuse/fuse holder was maybe another $15 or so.

so you do have to wire it like a sn95 alt then? Just not a plug and play thing
