So Im out cruising around, I get on it, do a nice break stand and 5 minutes later my brakes SEIZE on me, Its impossible to turn right or left, and when I brake there is a lot..LOT of pedal vibration, I look at the pad and it looks SUPER GLUED to the rotor...... ONLY THE FRONT, ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT:shrug:

Brembo Gran Turismo setup with Brembo pads.....

Thanks
Justin

take the tires off and see if the calipers can be pushed in. If they go in then the calipers aren't seized the pads might be jammed on the slides. if they do not go in then open up the bleeder on the caliper and try again. IF they don't go in when the bleeder is closed but they do when the bleeder is open then u might be looking at a line, proportioning valve, abs problem. now if the piston does go back I would first try scuffing the pads up re assembling the front brake with proper attn payed to the moving parts and proper slide lubrication. IF the piston doesn't go back in then u know the caliper is seized and either rebuild or replace.

thats good info, however the brake setup has does not have slides. Brembo uses a fixed caliper with a floating rotor. the pads are held in place by pins on top only. pad swaps are very easy to do. just pop the pins out and pull the pads out from the top. check the surface of the pad, if you can see yourself then they are glazed and must be replaced with rotors. i got Brembo blank rotors and Hawk HPS pads from tire rack for about $430 shipped (note front and rear) for my Brembo 00R setup. you will need a special tool designed for 4 piston calipers to return the pistons, they look like scissors kind of. also DO NOT use grease on any surface but the backs of the pads. nowhere else does the pad contact the caliper. put a LIGHT coating of grease on the pins. DO NOT get any grease whatsoever on the rotor surface. DO NOT attempt to rebuild a brembo caliper unless you are a very experienced brake technician.

do you have the pads that the brembo kit came with? if so they are not Brembo, they are Galpher. they are decent pads, but tend to give when pushed hard. i have had a slight bit of brake fade on the end of a hard about 15 lap hotlap session at Buttonwillow with these pads. also definately consider installing brake cooling ducts.
