Guys with gear drives...help!

O.K so I have had my gear drive on my 92 5.0 for about 5 months now..I installed it myself and I know something is wrong because I get a chattery / clanky sound at idle..sounds like the idler gears are walking back and fourth against the block and timing cover...question is...how much grinding of the timing cover or idler axles is necessary??? did I cut too much of the inside of the timing cover tab off?? anyone else with this problem...also, the one I got was a "cheapy" off of e-bay it is a "cat" name brand and it is a noisy drive but it is not nearly as loud of a whine as I have heard on others, are the pete jackson or edelbrock ones louder and fit better maybe?? they cost about twice as much as what I paid but im getting ready to just get a quality drive and throw it in....please help

Well, "CAT" is known for the cheap stroker kits on Ebay and also not known for quality. You might try a Pete Jackson "silent" gear drive unless you like that blower sound.

I know this doesn't help but Gear Drives rob power and wear out much quicker, go to a good double roller billet timing set, Rollmaster or Crane, or Ford Racing.
