H/C/I Rocks!!!

just added: P/P Eddy Performer Alum heads/ Milled for 10/1 comp, X-Cam retarded 6*, FMS timing Chain, FMS 1.6 Rockers, Trickflow pushrods, FMS Lifters, Ported BBK Shorties, Chip. ACCufab 70 mm is going on tommorow... Mobil 1 full synthetic. GM synchromesh in the TKO.
Timing and fuel have been bumped... other than that, its untuned.

The X cam was an great choice. Idles great, low end is still there! I was suprised how much torque was still there ( of course not the same untill about 2500 RPM) I also love how mellow the car sounds until 2200. The Idle isn't rough, but you can tell its not stock. I heard E cams sound tougher than it. Really glad I didn't go with the E. It pulls real hard up to 6000 RPM. Next I need gears, (Currently 3.08s) which get the job done... but I agree with going 3.73 . Elecrtic fan is definatly in the works, I'm going with the Mark 8 fan. Then it strait to the track.. I can't wait! 12's here I come.

Sounds like a great setup. I would say that gears are an absolute must now.

yes, I would have to agree. 3.73 or 3.90 . Its runnnin a little warm here in the west, so the fan is priority. Traction is a joke in 1st and 2nd already... So I have plenty of suspension and what not to work on. I am set on keeping the 10 holes, or getting ponies though. Is it really that hard to cut the Mark 8 fan shrowd? What should I use to cut the Plastic? Grinder, file, hack saw, anything else? People are always talking about having a swith to turn the fan on, isn't that waht the thermostat is for? Why not just have an off switch for when I am doin the 1/4 mile?

Get your fan done, and then concentrate on gears. I know exactly what you are talking about with the gears. I still have the 2.73's and they are killing this thing. Still fun to drive, but will be totally different when I switch to 3.73's.

Did you retard the cam for clearance or was there other reasons?

I'm with Mackey. Why retard a higher RPM cam? I'm interested to see how that works at the track with some gear in the car. I've heard of retarding the stock cam to give it some legs but a big cam like an X? Maybe there's something to it. We will wait and see.
