So I'm reading one of my books. I see an issue that I've never seen discussed regarding placement of an H-Pipe. From the book:

"Most exhaust systems have an area where these frequencies we have been discussing tend to build up and eddy the exhaust gases. To reduce this build-up on dual exhaust systems, it helps to install an H-pipe between the two sides of the exhaust. However, installing the pipe in the wrong place does more harm than not installing one at all."

Your thoughts?

I will post the part about how to find the area to install later. Gotta get some work done on the truck and the stang.

Late,

I posted a question on the subject of 'H' (and 'X') pipes which had some good replies, but it was lost in the server crash.

Basically, if you want to find the best place to fit the H pipe, paint the facing sides of both pipes for a couple of feet back from the manifold/header connection. Run the engine and look where the paint burns off first. This is where you want your H pipe. Improves low end torque apparently, and sounds better.
