I'm needing to replace tires and tread life is my major concern and saw BFGoodrich Traction T/A have an expected life of 60,000 miles.

What are the opinions of anyone who was put 17" H rated tires on their car? Is there a big handling difference between the H rated and the Z rated tires?

Z rated tires typically have better traction than H rated. I read something about it a while ago. Something to do with the compound of the tires makes a Z rated have better traction.

Top speed is not an issue, nor is acceleration traction a major factor in this application. For those situations (track) I'd buy a tire designed more specific for that.

What I'm wondering is if I would kick myself for going to an H-rated tire for everyday driving instead of the Z rated. Do the performance characteristics diminish so great that I'd not be happy?
