I called Sylvania customer service today. The long awaited H13 Silverstar bulbs for our cars should be in places like PepBoys and Autozone the last of Sept., first of Oct. Good things come to those that wait!

If you've never had Silverstars, you might not understand. They are not only brighter, but the color is different. You can really see much better with them at night, and they just plain look better. Gone is that awful yellow color.

Sylvania Silverstars are a good improvement over the stock bulbs. There are some aftermarket bulbs for sale, usually imported from Korea, that in my experience are not very well made and will not last. The Sylvanias are a good quality product that will last a good long time. I had them in my '96 for more than 5 years.

About the only other brand of bulbs I would trust would be PIAAs, but to my knowledge, they are not offering an H13 model yet. And, PIAAs will be a lot more expensive than the Silverstars.

OK, they are not HIDs, but they don't cost $800 either.

Does this same bulb work in our fog lamps? Or is this a different bulb?

No, the H13 is only for the headlights. The fogs use a #9145, which IS available as a Silverstar replacement bulb. I have these in my fogs and they are a big improvment over the stock bulbs.

$20 each, ok cool. I have seen them in other cars, they kinda have a blue tint to them. Would really look neat on my red car.

I've seen bulbs like that. These don't have that ugly blue film over them to make the bright white light look do they? I had PIAA's on my old Civic that gave it a much brighter beam with a nice white color, but the blue buld reflected all thoughout my headlights looking like crap when they were off.

These bulbs are actually have a different color than conventional bulbs. I said blue, and maybe that was a bad choice of discription. They are not really blue, but different

The Silverstars rule. I use them in my Taurus and love them. The light isn't blue, it's more white than anything and they really do improve the visibility of the road and anything that's ahead of you.

Hey Thanks again Goldenpony. I didn't know the Silverstars were available for the fog lamps. I'm going to pick up two tomorrow. It does look best if the fogs match the head lamps. I'll put them all in together when I get the H13's.

As I recall, getting at the fog lamp bulbs is a little trickier than the head lamps. The head lamp bulbs are visible and no problem to get at. But, it can't be that bad.

yes, the foglights are harder to get to. you have to take off the plastic radiator cover using those plastic clips. then the you have to pull out the grill by unclipping the 4 clips that hold it into place. then the bulb will be exposed. it's still pretty easy though.

I'm going to give it a shot tomorrow. I just bought the Silverstars, so I might as well put them in. I'm having to learn how to work with a lot of new fasteners and install methods in my '05. I used to have a '96 and I knew how to do quite a few things to that car. But, in this new one, just about everything is different.

Well how are the new bulbs working out are they as good as you thought they would be? I've tried some differnet brands of bulbs and not one has been very bright.
