well while working under my car today i managed to somehow knock my elbow into the fuel tank sending unit and line, breaking the seal that the unit makes with the tank. Gas started pouring out all over the floor of my garage, i put a bucket under it and opened all the windows, but i couldnt get the gas to stop leaking. Fearful that something would ignite it, i had to call the fire department out to my house. I couldnt find a syphen to empty the tank with, and no way to stop the leak, i was pretty much dead in the water. They came out, smeared some kind of goop on the leak, then pumped the gas out for me into my trucks tank. Now i have to fix the seal on the sending unit, so i went ahead and pulled the tank out, i figure what better time than now to clean it out and paint it, hell i might strip and POR15 my trunk while ive got it all uncovered.

Anyways, crazy day. You should have seen my face when i bumped into it and gas started spilling on my chest.

So let this be a reminder to have a fire extingusher near by whenever working on your car, you never know when something can go wrong. all i can say is thank god it didnt happen over the winter when i had my kerosene heater running in the garage with me.

Glad to hear you're okay. I have a couple of stories to share too. My brother works for a gas company and while under a tanker inspecting electrical wiring, the tanker caught on fire. Luckily the truck driver noticed the fire and helped pull him out from under the tanker. It could've been bad. Personally, I was working in the wheel well of a B-52 bomber while the crew chief was conducting the refueling. I wasn't supposed to be working in the wheel well as the inlet was right near there. The crew chief pulled the hose out and the inlet was supposed to automatically seal and shut off, but the valve stuck in the open position. Hundreds of gallons of JP4 jet fuel came gushing out. I was lucky and was able to egress out of the wheel well without incident. Talk about close calls.

Man, you had me worried there too, glad it went alright.

My parents owned a video shop. Next door were some shops and a 10-spot carpark. There is this blue 66 coupe I saw a couple of times. Me and my best mate park behind the shop (entered from another street behind the shop), got out, walked up beside the shop to go in the front, and what do we see, the blue stang, bonnet up, black soot everywhere, and smoke pouring out of the bonnet. My mate knows I'm a FANATIC, so he just goes "OHHHH, STANG!" and I said the same thing, he saw it first, and alerted me to it. We went inside, and mum said the guy ran in and asked her to call the fire brigade, his car was on fire. Man, I would have cried. My mate said it must be a sign for me, and I agreed. I dunno whether it is a good or bad omen though, that remains to be seen. One thing is certain though, I'll try dang hard to keep one stang alive and kicking the guts out of everything else. But that's another story. :D
