Hey guys..

I know this topic is beaten to death but I want fresh opinions! :) I started my car today in storage and noticed that I got some hanging idle :( . When I rev and when the needle comes down it sticks at around 1000 Rpm then after 5-6 seconds or more it comes back down to its regular position. What can cause this? I think I heard once that it was a TPS sensor if this is right how does it look like and is it exspensive? Thanks

Sounds like your IAC valve is dirty and sticking a little.

Try removing it, and cleaning it with carb cleaner. You can re-install with the same gasket. That should fix your problem.

IAC ...what does that stand for?

Agree :nice: It stands for Idle Air Control

Is that located on the throttle body? looks like a cylinder attached to something right? If thats it I cleaned it last summer and lost the gasket so I put that form a gasket sylicon and thats it!..You think its because of this? If so were can I get another gasket?..Thanks guys

Yes it is. If it's been sittin' in storage for a while, the intenals may have built up some rust or residue and be keeping it from working correctly. I would clean it again and get a new gasket and get that form a gasket crap out of there. Could be the IAC just gave it up.
