i have a 90 mustang gt that will miss under load usually at the beginning of third gear. It will be running fine and then all of a sudden it will jerk/miss hard one time and the tach needle will jump and it sounds like the car shuts off but it doesn't. Ive replaced the plugs/wires and the cap and rotor look good. Do you think my fuel pump could be going out? What are some signs of a pump going out?

Does it do it when its hot? Most fuel pumps that ive experianced going bad often give your 5 liter a "extended crank" on startup. there is a port by your fpr you can hook up a gauge to see what your fuel pressure is. Now the second question: does your car throw a ses light when it misses (check engine light) really before anything I'd check codes first. Ur miss could be caused by even a faulty maf sensor.
