ok i put o a new harmonic balencer from 5.0 resto...... when puttiong it on the bolts from the old balencer won't work they needed to be longer because the new balencer is not threaded but relies on the bracket in back of it to hold the bolts...... aftera month of running it snaped the bolts from the crank pulley..... WTF.... now im stuck agian..... anyone else have this prob....... o yeah it is a underdrive pulley too do i need special bolts... i know the ones we put in were kinda short ,,, but the did thread in most the way.... should i go with a bolt that is not threaded all the way down......

When I put on my underdrive pulley, I couldnt use the stock bolts because the bolt head was too big. I had to use bolts with a rounded head that are tightend with an allen wrench. As far as bolt length, I dont remeber 100% but the new bolt were the same length or maybe a little shorter, but they have worked fine, the old bolts would tighten some but then the bolt head would rub on the pulley. Either way, I have a brand new set of bolts for the underdrive pulley with the rounded head if you want them, just send me your address and Ill mail them to you. [email protected]

The balancer i just got yesterday from 50resto.com is a remanufactured Ford part, I also got the MAC underdrive pulleys which came with the rounded allen head bolts because as mentioned above you can't fit a socket around the original bolt heads. Otherwise everything bolts in just fine.

i would not feel comfy with that - have you called the manufacturer (Performance Products, etc) to find out for sure. or their site might have install tech....what kind of balancer is it? im just curious so i never buy one (i almost got the PP non SFI street unit for 80 bucks)....good luck with that and the bolt issue (your other thread).
