Have any of you with 4.10 gears gone 140MPH? How was it if you did? Did the gears make a lot of noise or did you not notice anything? I am trying to decide between 3.73 and 4.10. Thank you.

I don't so 4.10s do me just fine.

And for the record it could have gone more, but I ran out of road. It was revving at about 5500 in 5th gear.
If I had to do it again, I'd probably go with 3.73 though. For future supercharging needs.

but I wasn't checking revs too often. I was checking to see how fast traffic was coming up on me. I can't stay at that speed for long, so the last thing I'm worried about is gears. heck at that speed I'm reheasing to explain why I was going that fast in the 1st place.
TGJ said:I did some calculating:
4.10s, 4th gear @ 140 MPH = 7350 RPM
4.10s, 5th gear @ 140 MPH = 4550 RPM
I have never verified if a GT will pull that to that RPM in 5th and I know you won't get to 140 in 4th.
3.73s, 4th gear @ 140 MPH = 6680 RPM
3.73s, 5th gear @ 140 MPH = 4150 RPM
All of the RPM's are rounded off to the nearest 10. Again they are not the exact RPM you may see due to the Ford Tach not being 100% accurate and variations of the actual tire size.
