I'm trying to remove the hatch lock cylinder. I have the rivet removed already. I pried down on the retainer and it came down about 3/8" but its difficult to get it down further. How far down do I have to get the retainer in order to pull the cylinder out? If the retainer clip is being stubborn, do I just pry harder to remove it all the way? Whats the trick?

It's got to come all the way out, get a pair of needle nose pliers and wiggle it out, that last part if the clip has a hump so it's a little stubborn.

Ok thanks. I got it out.

Another question. Is the lever between the lock cylinder and latch supposed to be slightly bent? If not I can straighten it. See the picture

That clip is/can be as difficult to put back in, it helps to use a little wd40 or similar lube on the clip humps, just say'n, I've bent a couple trying to reinstall them.

Or a little dab of grease instead so you don’t have the mess running down and all over your hand ... wait what?

It was twisted. A quick pinch in the vice and its back in proper shape
