Have gas prices affected your driving?

Do you drive your classic less now that gas prices are so high? I still drive mine alot, but i'm frustratingly easy on the gas pedal now. I dont open her up like i used to. What about you guys?

I don't drive mine everyday..but I have decided to skip Fords at Carlisle this year. I think it's about 350 miles each way and with registration, a motel room and meals, i won't enjoy it this year. With 3:55 gears, I'd be stopping at each station.

I have parked my Aerostar van and went back to the Saturn for everyday driving.

Gas prices are why I drive a Toyota for my daily driver. But when I drive my Mustang on the weekends, I don't drive it any differently to save gas.

Yes gas prices have affected my driving. I drive the mustang more now since it gets better MPG than both my truck and my jeep.

Allthough having to buy premium more than removes any savings I might benefit from....but don't tell my Wife

I havent driven mine as much because of the bad weather and kind of the price of gas. My 4 banger toyota pickup is my daily driver and its gas milage is probably close to my mustang.

My round trip commute to work every day is 90 miles, and I am driving my 4 cylinder Ranger more and more. Although I am driving the cars less, I am building a 393 that will be far from fuel efficient, so I guess THAT behavior hasn't changed.

A little bit. Instead of flat out gassing it to 80 I only go to 60.

no. my Mustang isn't powerful enough to make it worth driving fast, so I just drive it normally. I've actually found that when I'm driving the Stang, I'm much more laid back (hence easy on the gas pedal) just because I'm enjoying driving the car. however, if I see a twisty up ahead, I'll get on it a little so I can rip through the turn. heh. twisties. heheh. I buy gas where it is cheapest, but I don't drive to save gas.

I haven't driven Sadie in over a year () because she's still in pieces. But if she was driveable the cost of gas wouldn't be much of a factor because she gets about the same mpg as our daily driver Cherokee.

My wife drives a '97 Suburban, I drive an '89 Chevy 4x4, both get mid-teens for mileage. I suppose I could buy a smaller truck, and my wife could drive a smaller SUV, but why? To gain 3-5 mpg? I don't think so, and I'm not about to buy a KIA just because it gets splendid mileage. If I ever feel the need to buy a fuel-efficient vehicle, I'll probably lean (pun intended) towards a Yamaha R1 for a daily driver.

Gas is almost at 2 bucks a gallon here in Lubbock, TX. That is higher than I have ever seen it before.

Yeah I drive my stang a little easier now, but not too much easier, but I have been thinking about car pooling with my girfriend to work until the prices drop, if they drop.

Too bad things didn't go well in Iraq. We could have been in control of a major oil producer and not had to worry about high prices this year.

Yeah, gas is over 2 bucks a gallon here. And for some reason, i have a really small gas tank. It tops out at 10 gallons. So its a pain refilling it over and over. But yeah, its my daily driver, and really sucks gas when i get on it, so i tend to go alot easier in an effort to control how much it drinks.

None of these are really mileage friendly , But I drive like I always do

gas is $1.80 for the cheap stuff here in Houston.

the US gets 2-5% of its oil imports from iraq, wooohoooo, thats next to nothing. We do however get 35-45% of our oil imports from Iran. so, dont use oil as a reason for iraq its pointless.

Actually, the war in Iraq is the WORST thing that could happen to oil prices. I predicted this would happen last year when a-holes were saying we were going to war for oil. With the big thug (Saddam Hussein) out of the region the Saudis don't need to be our buddy for protection. With no real threat they can jack the prices and supply as they wish (as they are currently doing).They are one of the big cartels in OPEC that sway these decisions. Once Iraq becomes somewhat stable and oil producing they'll screw us over as well.

Sorry, I was being sarcastic about the Iraq thing. I also think it was a bad idea for us to invade Iraq. People keep talking about Bush's relationship with the Saudis. Hey, mabye since he did um a favor by taking down Suddam they will cut us some slack on oil prices.

I drive my honda and its only when I need to. cant beat 36 to 40 mpg. its costing me about a hundred a month to keep gas in her.

gas is $2.27 for regular here.

The Saudis are the ones who caused the prices to JUMP. They have no need for us anymore. We did the dirty work and now we will pay at the pump. That's how countries show us their gratitude.

Took my '97 Cobra (grocery getter) in for a fill up of 93 octane yesterday which cost me $1.85/gal. I calculated my mileage at 22.9313452 MPG. Not bad at all considering the Focus ZX5 is rated at 25MPG city.

EDIT: Add to that the fact that I paid $1.25/gal of regular (leaded for you young'uns) while I was in high screwel (1981) the gas prices really don't seem that bad. I mean in thos days a Corvette was just about $10K
