have you ever had one of those days? you know where you wished you would have stayed in bed .
well today was one of those days > I started by trying to remove the drain plug from my trans to get it ready to pull > well after some swearing and a breaker bar it did come out > the next thing was to put the car on jack stands > well as I was trying to do this my son found it the right time to PI$$ me off by nagging the crap out of me and in my rust > I didn't set the jack under the motor cross member the right way and as the car got about a foot off the ground it sliped >
yep the oil pan cought it perfictly ? and crushed right flat against the motor >
one of my questions is how can I change the pan ? > do I have to pull the motor to do this ? or can I just unbolt the motor mounts and lift the motor ? the trans will be out during this little side trip > and I will be putting my long tube headers on . > p.s. will and mustang gt oil pan fit my motor or does it have to be a cobra pan >
and if I get a t-45 / sohc 4.6 gt tranny and split the 1-4 section from the 5th-r section and use my 5th-r section off my t-45 will the parts interchange ?

Body shops use a little welder that sticks on small projections that they use to pull dents without having to go inside the body panel. That might be something they could use to pull out the pan without having to take it off (which is a big pain).

Just a suggestion. Talk to a body shop and see what they could do for you.

And, yeah, I've had those days but maybe not quite like yours. Although I do remember once starting to jack up the rear of the car and realizing I was starting to jack on the gas tank - luckly I saw it before there was any movement. The most recent one was changing the front hub on a front wheel drive Taurus that should have taken 2 hours and it took 8 - everything went wrong!

Kids are such a wonderful distraction when they get one of their "attitudes." My youngest is now 27 so those days are loooong past - but not forgotten.

^ hahah thanks >no i know why croc's eat there young >>> I never thought of the body puller thing > but I want to see what kind of if any damage there was to the motor >> I'm going to try to lift the motor a little after the trans get's out > I found a tr-3650 and a clutch for $600> does anyone know if the stock cobra cross-member will work ?

well short of my little oil pan mishap > all went very well today > pulled the t-45 out and had it pulled apart > only took me 2 1/2 hours > I found my problem with the trans > it the PLATE GEAR SHIFT ARM > for 1-2 shift > not the shift forks like I originaly thought which is great no rebuild > on a good note the trans HAS BEEN REBUILT IN THE PAST !!! and it's in very good shape > I have to find someone who sell replacement's or up-graded shift plates > any one have any ideas ??? I also still need to find a new oil pan

Check out Hanlon Motorsports - T5 and Tremec parts, sales and service. I used to live in the area and used him for T-5 parts; he's very knowledgeable. Or, ProMotion Powertrain might have the parts you need.

Good luck with that oil pan. I think you'll have to drop the K-member for that little job.

^^ thanks for the heads-up > I e-mailed both of them about parts > and even see some up-grades > I'm going to do while I'm in there > I got it all washed out today and ready to pull the shift linkage out > I need a bearing puller to finish pulling it apart .

Hanlon is a great guy and really helped me when I rebuilt my T-5. Glad your experience was good, too! He will actually rebuild your tranny for parts plus a great flat labor rate. The shipping gets a little pricey, though.

Good luck with your pan problem.

well the trans is done > I finished putting it together today > It will go back in when I find the right clutch for the power I want to make > the pan is another story I havn't even touched it yet > I found a nice 7 QT one that will let me use my long tube headers something that will also be going on in the coming weeks > hopefully anyway > .
