Okay seafoam users did it help your car out or hurt it? What did you all think of it that actually used it.

I was going to suck it thru the Brake booster vac line until the car dies and let it sit and then restart (method).

How bout those who used it on 5.0L's (lots of miles). I don't want any extra "wear" on the rings from it eating up carbon. Thanks for the link...I have read that one before...long read

I had 185k on my car at the time and it was really sluggish. I changed plugs, wires, cap/rotor, put 1/2 bottle of seafoam in the gas the other 1/2 in the oil and a full bottle in the brake booster vac line. I then took off and thoroughly cleaned the IAC, Mas air wire and the EGR valve. It made an incredible difference. It felt like I added a bolt on performance part. The idle smoothed out and the engine screamed. The engine was prob. never cleaned out before.

I'm just trying to think how much I should put in my engine thru the b/r vac. line? I have one can...

Does it hurt to do back to back seafoam "installs"? Once the smoke clears?

I use it on every car I have lol. I use one bottle in the intake, one bottle in about a half a tank of gas. When I bought my GT (171k), I swear it fogged the whole block for an hour or so. I let it suck about 3/4 of the bottle through and then let it die. After 5min or so, start 'er up and watch the smoke show! Improved my idle, fuel mileage, and throttle response. Felt like a different car.

I use the stuff as part of regular maintenance; I do it once a year in my daily driver.

Do a search on the internet. I bought it at Advanced Auto. There isnt usually too much on the shelves, you should ask the employees if they have it in the store.

You dont need to do back to back cans in the intake. One should be enough.

I've used it both on my 92 115k+ and my 150k mile grand prix. I sucked it in through the vacumn line until it was about half gone then I put the line in the can completely until it died. Let sit for a while and restarted the cars.. Both of them smoked like crazy on the restart. I then went through and did it again and the smoke was quite a bit less so I assume it did what it's supposed to do since the second time around was cleaner. I also put it in my crank case and fuel tank. No problems. How much it really helped I don't know. I think you would have to have a dyno for power and a tear down to see if things were drastically cleaner on the inside. But I don't think it can hurt.

Since my car dyno's so well from so few bolt ons and since I had the valve covers off and saw no sludge I think Im gonna pass. Have only saw video's and read (all good) posts on it. Maybe I oughta use it in my 90k mile Explorer.

I got mine from Napa (plenty on the shelf) over by the engine restore products.

So should I keep having it sucked up until the car dies? (almost like hydrolock which is scary) or should I keep it alive while it is being sucked in?

You guys sit in traffic all day or what? I've only seen really old oil-burning engines that are filled up with carbon. A heavy foot now and then helps too.

I've never used Sea Foam and probably never will, but I'd be interested to know how it actually works. I guess water injection does the same thing too.

in my auto service class, we have been testing fuel and fuel additives, the seafoam in these tests helped a little bit, but the best things were the Valvoline MaxLife stuff, and BG products 44K, i plan on using the 44k stuff sometime

when I do it, I keep dipping the vacumn line in and out so the motor don't stall. Then when about half or so of the can is gone, i'll dip it in all the way until the motor stalls out. Let sit for 5-10 minutes and restart it. then after the smoke clears, I will usually do the rest of the can the same way. The second time around it should smoke a bit less.

Great stuff, i use have a bottle through the brake booster. Slowly put the stuff in, don't dump it or it'll just die. I had my brother on the throttle a bit while i poured 1/2. Then let it sit. Turn it back on and watch the smoke show. The only thing i notice was that if you engine has high wear on parts and the old oil sludge is probably doing some good by acting like a barrier. Such as on worn rings or gaskets, if you clean it you lose that barrier and may end up having more problems.
