My 2000 GT is having issues with the idle dropping way down when in neutral gear. I checked the error code on my actron pocket scanner and it pulled up a p1507, which indicates an "Idle Air Control Under Speed Error". Anyone have any suggestions as to what is causing this and how I can remedy the problem?

TIA

Replace your IAC, $40 and 5 min of work.

Helped mine idle much better.

Some people clean it, but for the $40, just get a new one.

ok....there is obviously something else going on here that people are ignoring or are unaware about, b/c i was having idle issuses and i replaced my IAC and still had the same probs, there are like 5 million threads on this but none really fix this, lots of people have replaced iac and still have probs like me. My car sometimes starts to die when braking hard or pushing in the clutch, so i have to give it gas to keep it goin. seems like it does this for prob 10 min after starting sometimes and then it gets better when car is warmed up. but everyone always says oH...its the IAC but it isnt always the IAC b/c lots of ppl have replaced it and doesnt fix jack...even tried seafoam...helped some....seems to be faster accel. etc. but still having same prob of engine cutting off.

not really sure where to go from here but just wanted to address a prob that lots of ppl seem to be having that everyone automatically blames on the IAC.

Can someone who has cleaned an IAC with success post some tips on what they used. Is throttle body cleaner too harsh?

I went to buy a new IAC and the part was 130 bucks... so looking for an alternative.

Not sure about the cleaning but an IAC should only be 50 bucks from Auto Zone

It was kind of strange cause when I went into both Car Quest and Advance Auto Parts, they both pulled up a different IAC for the 2000 GT than the one that came stock.

This is what I looked like: http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?mfrcode=SMP&mfrpartnumber=AC117&parttype=506&ptset=A and cost about $45

But the correct one looks like this: http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?mfrcode=NIE&mfrpartnumber=22971&parttype=506&ptset=A and was $125

Kind of pissed me off cause I was excited about it being a quick fix for about 50 bucks.

IAC Cleaning

I cleaned my IAC with good 'ol carb cleaner. Amazing how filthy it was. After cleaning, it worked great solved all of my start up problems.

I'd do it again, certainly beats spending 100+ $'s
