we're finishing up the motor. and trying to put the belt on, we've got the idler as far as it can go, and it seems as if its a half inch or so off. using the belt vortech sent us.

is there something we could be missing? we're using the routing diagram included in the book.

Which belt? The blower belt or the Serpentine belt? I had to buy a new Serpentine belt because the one they sent was wrong. To get the blower belt on try taking the idler assembly off completely and then get the belt in place, then reinstall the idler assembly.

There are 2 ways the serpentine belt can go on. Have to do with how they go around the water pump pulley and harmonic balencer pulley.

This is true, however I think if you put it on the wrong way it ends up being too long not too short. I could be wrong though.

I dont remember what size I had to buy, it was a long time ago and I have a completely different belt on there now. Just take the one you have to a parts store and get one a half inch longer, inch longer, and maybe more and return the ones you dont need.

Couple hints...

Try slipping it over the waterpump (tends to be easier)

Unbolt idler pulley up top and bolt it in last
