I am considering removing the trap from my stang. Mine was built in january and it does have one. My questions are ...

Does anyone know whether or not ford has a different tune in the stangs built w/o the hc trap compared to the ones built with the trap?

Is there any way we can check our computer codes/version to verify that there hasnt been a change?

For those of you who have removed the HC Trap w/o using any aftermarket tune, did you pull the battery so that you reset your computer or did you just leave it alone?

Have any of you that removed the HC Trap, replaced it because the car didnt respond well anymore?

Id like the minimal hp gain but I dont want to lose power or screw up the motor. I know this has been discussed everywhere but I have yet to find someone who can confirm if there has been a tune change.

Thanks

There is no final answer because it's not that simple. Yes you can remove it w/o a tune and you car should be fine. But I would recommend you leave it in and then remove it later as part of a CAI install (for example). Then you can get a tune with it removed in conjunction with the CAI. IMO, the hp gain (if any at all w/o a tune) is not noticeable regardless of what people say here. Just do it as part of a larger air intake change.

Maybe pull the trap and then try this:

Ford offers latest reflashes that include the latest release of the code for your PCM (Often part of a diagnostic process), so maybe a work order with "Lacks Power" could be used... Then talk to the tech and request the latest code.
