Im installing my Trickflow heads after 4.5 years of the car not running im confused.

1. On the driver side does the back or front water ports get covered up by the head gasket (MLS gaskets) when installing them.

2. Same question on the passanger side.

This is very critical which way it goes, if put on improperly you'll have some overheating issues.

Now it if remember correctly when I did mine both gaskets have Front or top Imprinted on them(cant remember which). The fronts of the gaskets have little pieces that extened out towards the top side which the intake gaskets "hook" on to. So I hope someone else can come in and confirm which way the orientation goes, its been awhile for me.

My Haynes book says on the drivers side the water ports on the front gets covered up, looking at a pic in the book. It does not have a pic for the passanger side, im gonna assume its the same as the drivers side. Hope someone can tell me if this is correct before I install the passanger side head.

welllll.....

The front ports should be covered up so the coolant gets forced to the back of the block..and then up through to the front of the engine and out the thermostat....other wise there'd be some extreme hot spots.

When installing them: The part with "front" on it...goes to the front. One will be flipped upside down.

So basically, as long as "front" is in the front, and the front coolant passages are covered up, you're good. Oh yeah, The little "hooks" point towards the lower intake

If anyone sees any mal-information in my post, PLEASE correct it since this is a rather important issue

good luck

The HG's on a SBF have always been kinda strange

When you look closely at everything going on .....
you see many things that make you feel uncomfortable

It all boils down to ... Two things to remember ;)

1) There is no Left or Right HG

2) Make sure each side has FRONT facing front

Right, Front faces front, water ports in the back open, closed in the read, and the interlock tabs point towards the lifter valley to interlock with the lower intake manifold gasket.
