my car was blowing out white smoke and mixing antifreeze/oil externally. usually symptoms like this would be a head gasket, but what stunned me is that there was also tranny fluid in with the mixture sitting on top. I know that tranny cooler is in the radiator, but would tranny fluid leak if its a blown head gasket? i don't want to have to change the head gaskets and it not be what is wrong. HELP!

well the tranny fluid does run on the radiator thru the cooler, but from what you mentioned sounds like you have both a blown head gasket and a internally leaky radiator

I think you have a few things going on there. First I'd check the tranny fluid. Then I'd check, the oil. Then I'd do a compression/leak down test on the engine.
Because with what all you described it sounds like busted rad and head gasket to me. Did you have a suffeicent amount of antifreeze in there for your winter conditions? could've crack the rad and the block hope not. Let us know what you find.
