Soon I'm going to have my block stripped, intake off, oil pan off, water pump off and timing chain cover removed. Does anyone think that I should remove the heads for inspection or replacement of the head gaskets? This motor was rebuilt about 10,000 miles ago. The compression ratio is 11:1, does anyone have a head gasket recommendation?

Unless you were having problems with leaky headgaskets or overheating, id leave it alone.

Out of curiosity why are you stripping the engine seems at 10,000 miles it would have alot of life left in it still?

My compression ratio is 10.5:1 and I have blown through two head gaskets. (Ford exterme service head gaskets) I replaced them with a new Mr. Gasket head gasket that is designed for higher compression engines. So far so good.

I removed the engine to clean up the engine bay, fix a bunch of minor issues and problems, replace some parts, but mostly to gain experience.

I'm not intending to pull the heads (I don't think), remove pistons, cam etc.
