Anybody know where the serial numbers are on sbf heads. I am helping a guy online put sbf in a cj7. It was supposed to be a 93 HO motor, but it ended up being a mutt. Also anybody know where a decoder is? This is what he gave me.

"The only numbers I can find are as follows: passenger side- a 7 under the rearmost exhaust port and a 2 up above it, on the drivers side there is nothing EXCEPT a 35 on the uppermost front corner. Other than the FoMoCo logo cast in to each one, I can't find anything else."

He wants to know because he doesnt know what headers will fit on the heads.

If they're HO heads they will have a large "T" cast next to the valve cover, outside in one corner. If they're 93 GT40 heads, there will be three vertical bars cast into the end of the head. These also may have a "GT" cast into one outside corner. GT40P heads had this cast there with 4 vertical bars on the ends.

There will also be a date code cast inside the rocker valley, next to the inside wall, this is a number/letter/number(s) combination. The casting numbers themselves are under one intake runner, with the intake off, you can see it using a mirror.
