I was looking at something and noticed that a '73 Lotus Europa uses a 1600 ford motor. now its a dohc motor and I was wondering if it maybe an alternative to a dohc swap?

Was just a thought and thought I would pass the info on.

IIRC the Ford 1600, 1800, and 2000 are not related to the Ford 2300.

Im not the expert but I dont think you can interchange the heads.

Yeah, that's a Mazda motor. Escort GT's came with the 1.8BP same as my 97 Miata. Hell even Kia has 1.6's in some of their Sophia's. It's an awesome motor, fordged internals, main girdle, windage tray and oil squirters STOCK! A friend of mine has one in a Festiva and is giving it a 125hp shot of nitrous without any problems.

In 1973 Lotus was still in England.

A 1973 Ford 1600 would have nothing to do with a Mazda motor. According to Wikipedia it was a Cosworth modified 1600cc Kent motor.

I would think a 1970's 1600cc Ford motor would be the 1.6L Kent motor. IIRC it was the basis of the Formula Ford cars from 1960's to mid 1990's

Up until the mid 80s the Formula Atlantic open wheel series used Ford DOHC engines, I don't remember what the cc was. They later became "Toyota Atlantics", but before then they were Fords.
