Hi, im bob, now that i got the introduction out of the way here is my question(s) are there any header bolts longer than the ones ARP sells? my turbo headers have a much thicker flange on them and the ARP header bolts only thread in by 3 threads, im afraid to crank them down so i keep blowing out the header gaskets, any idea on where or who makes or sellls extra long header bolts for sbf? i Really need to fix this problem, its causing lots of turbo lag and noise, not only that but im sick of smelling like exhaust everytime i drive the car.

What ARP PN# (length) are you using?

Find out which length you need or use some all thread studs perhaps.

That info im not sure of, i just got a whole bolt kit from ARP when i built the engine.... this was a couple years ago, id have to pull one out and have a look see, but from what i recall i think they are either .5" or .75" all i know is with the turbo headers the flange is a lot thicker than the stock ones.... i Was contemplating studs, does ARP make studs for sbf's?

Go to a good fastener store and buy a 3/8-16 socket head set screw, and use nuts on that. Or you can buy stuff from Allens Fasteners, google them. I placed an order with them, shipping was fast and you can even buy ARP stuff in single quantities that you didnt even know exisited

Tell me about it, and the prices are super reasonable. I bought 12pt 5/16-18 ARP nuts, and they were cheaper buying them individually from allens, than in bulk from summit.

Stock header bolts are 3/8" x 16 x 3/4", some application you can use 1”.

But as stated you can get 3/8 X 16 grade 8 bolts X (whatever lenght) at most major hardware or auto parts stores.

16 is the thread pitch, yes. You are going to run into a problem with the head of the bolt being too large and hitting the primary tubes if you just use standard hardware. If by some chance they clear the tubes, you are going to have a really hard time getting a wrench on the bolt.

Header bolts are made so the head of the fastener is smaller than a standard 3/8-16 bolt for these reasons
