Header Help for 65 with 351 Stroker

Hi Frank,

JBA used to make a beautiful full length header in 1 3/4". Then they quit and about a year ago I called them and they were thinking of doing them again. They were spendy at around $800 if I remeber right. I'd give them a call. I've got their shorties and they look great but they are only 1 5/8". I think my motor would be better off with the larger primaries also.
Locally I had found someone to custom build a set for $1000- $1300. Ouch!

I don't remember seeing a 1 7/8" header for your application. Most of that has to do with the turn radius required to exit the head and clear the shock tower.

There are several companies that have 1 3/4" swap headers for a 65/66. I ordered mine from George at Accufab http://www.accufabracing.com/exhaust.htm

My Accufabs fit fairly well and have excellant (underscore excellant) ground clearance, even though they have 3" collectors. They clear most all transmission combinations. I needed to dent the shock towers a little for clearance (nothing drastic that couldn't be tapped back out later) and installing the clutch Z-bar required some patience (but no modifications.) My big arsed Lakewood bellhousing required a very small amount of clearance grinding near the starter.

My previous headers were from Tubular Automotive and were 1 1/2" in diameter (all that was available in 1979.) Ground clearance and fit were attrocious, even though they had equal length tubes. Lots of war scars when removed.
