Header question...

Just a quick question. My buddy just bought an '01 Cobra and we are getting ready to bolt on a set of headers and an X-pipe. If someone could help with a good technique for uninstalling the manifolds and installing the headers we would appreciate it. The amount of working room seems to be limited, and we really need some suggestions from those that have installed headers on these cars. Also, what is the typical HP gain at the tires from a header install with X-pipe.

Dropping the k-member will be your best bet on installing the headers...it's a pain to do it with that thing still in there...there's just no room to get any tools or your hands up in there to get everything properly tightened....there's a good writeup on installing them on a GT over on http://fnsweet.com/garage/lt_install/index.shtml


Not sure on what I gained with my long tubes, but it's a lot stronger through the entire band and it got me about .3 and 3mph at the track...
