Hey guys. went to all the grand am boards and ecotec boards and couldnt get a strait answer. i just got a full exhaust for my ecotec. i bought heat wrap for the header because i took the cheap route and didnt get the ceramic coated one. i heard i shouldnt use the heat tape because it will warp and crack my new header from holding in moisture.

Is this true?

i just wanted to say thanks to everyone again for all the help. i remember when i first got my v6 mustang i barley knew the difference between a v6 and a v8. then two years later i did a v8 swap all by myself and now, im car literate. i gotta admit though these new high combustion, DOHC, small engines arent as easy to deal with a a 5.0. thanks again for all the help with everything

You hear alot of different things about header wrap. We have used it on a modified circle track car for years and have never had any problems. The wrap will make a big difference in the amount of heat disspated into the engine bay, the exhaust will stay hotter further into the system, but probably not enough to damage your O2 sensors downstream. I would do it, just wrap it tight and be consistent to prevent moisture from getting in between the wrap and the tubing. Good luck! :nice:
