Headers for Oval Head Port

I was shopping for shorty headers and the only ones I've seen are for oval head ports. Would that really make a difference if my heads are not oval ported on the exhaust? Or are they oval? I have 69 with 351W with original heads and exhaust manifold.

Do they specifically say "for oval port heads" or are you looking at the pictures and the primary flange has oval holes? I had some Flowtech shorties for my '89 GT and they had oval primaries. They were larger than the head's square port, so there wasn't a restriction.

That brings me to my next point. ALL factory smallblock Windsor Fords(260/289/302/351W) have square port heads. Most of the aftermarket heads do too. As long as the header opening is the same size as the port or larger and will still bolt on, there should be no problem.

my AFR heads are egg shapped. and im putting square hooker headers on them. im going to be just fine cause the header is as big or bigger then the head port. look on summit.com they give you options sometimes on what size, shape, color, brand, etc, etc you want. and its FREE shipping. i get all my parts from summit.

It doesn't say that. I'm just a little concerned that if the head exhaust port is not oval and the headers that I use states oval head port that it might have a restriction issue.

Those will work fine. Most headers have oval ports because it's cheaper to flatten the tube then it is to make a square port merge into a round tube.
